Beginning as a PTA sponsored after school activity in 2015 at Eagle School Intermediate in Berkeley Co., WV, the Tony M. Music and Arts Foundation took over the program in 2018. Each fall, children in 3rd-5th grade have the opportunity to join one of our 3 cross country teams at Eagle School, Mountain Ridge, and Orchard View Intermediate Schools. And in fall of 2024, we will include all 6 of our Berkeley County Intermediate schools! .

In 2022, Dick’s Sporting Goods awarded us a grant to help us purchase t-shirts for all our runners and coaches which totaled just over 300! This is an amazing program for our children. We started Cross Country in our intermediate schools because we saw the need for a sport that is inclusive to all children of ranging athletic abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds and that promotes life-long health and wellness.  Many of our runners, 3rd-5th grade, have gone on to join the Cross Country team when they enter middle and high schools. 

We want all our runners to know that miles are your body are a good thing and to always finish strong!
